Geotechnical Engineering

Geotechnical engineering involves the study and analysis of soil and rock in order to design for the support of new or existing structures or when alterations are necessary to natural or artificial land.  Youngdahl has been performing these studies in Northern California since 1984.  We strive to strike a balance between our engineering recommendations, risk, and cost to enhance a project’s profitability and constructability. We offer expertise in a broad range of geotechnical consultation and testing services, and can perform field, laboratory, and engineering analysis with in-house staff and equipment. Our services include the following:

  • Subsurface Geotechnical Investigations

  • Foundation Engineering

  • Site Preparation & Grading Recommendations

  • Liquefaction Evaluation

  • Expansive Soil Mitigation Recommendations

  • Flexible & Rigid Pavement Design

  • Pavement Stabilization

  • Retaining Wall Design

  • Soil Stabilization

  • Seepage & Drainage Control

  • Forensic Studies

  • Seismic Activity Evaluation & Site Response

  • Slope Stability Analysis
